Galaxy Note FE goes on sale in South Korea

Galaxy Note FE

As expected, Samsung has started selling the limited edition Galaxy Note FE in its home market. Limited to 400,000 units, the Galaxy Note FE (short for Fan Edition) is targeted towards users who seek the Galaxy Note functionality like the S Pen.

Just like the Galaxy Note7, the Galaxy Note FE has a similar curvy design with the ‘Fan Edition’ written on the back. The new phone uses materials from the recalled Galaxy Note7 but scales down the battery capacity to 3200mAh from Galaxy Note7’s 3500mAh battery. The new battery is the result of Samsung’s 8-point battery safety program.

However, there are a few changes on the software side. For instance, the Galaxy Note FE boasts user interface similar to the Galaxy S8 series and comes with Bixby.

The S Pen brings in support for writing on the screen with Screen off memo and pinning it to the Always On Display, create GIFs with Smart Select while Air Command adds features like Magnify and Translate that allows users to zoom in on the screen or convert languages with a simple hover of the S Pen.

As for the rest of the hardware, the phone comes with a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, Exynos 8890 processor, 4GB RAM, 12 and 5 megapixel back and front cameras, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi and
IP68 certification.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed the phone for international market but South Koreans can buy the device for 699,600 Korean won, considerably cheaper than the Galaxy Note7.
